SEATTLE — This time the upset just didn't happen.

Just nine days after toppling then 11^th-ranked Seattle Pacific, the Northwest Nazarene women's soccer team went for a second straight upset of the Falcons on Saturday on the road in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

And things looked good for the Crusaders until a penalty kick in the 71^st minute broke a tie and helped 24^th-ranked Seattle Pacific survived another battle with NNU with a 3-1 victory.

"We fought so hard today," said NNU head women's soccer coach Mary Trigg, whose team topped SPU 1-0 a week ago Thursday in Nampa, Idaho.

"Nicole (Nsa) scored a great goal to tie the game up," NNU's coach added. "Unfortunately, a PK was the deciding factor again.

"We'll learn from this and move forward. We're excited to have three home games coming up."

A home-stand that begins Thursday when NNU hosts Montana State Billings at 4 p.m. at Finkbeiner Park.

Out to complete a season sweep of the Falcons, the Crusaders found themselves in a 1-0 hole just 7 minutes, 37 seconds into the game, but quickly dug out.

Ashley Cook-Cox set up Nsa just under 5 minutes later with the equalizer, and from there it stayed knotted at 1-1 into halftime, and beyond.

All the way until 19:07 remained on the clock when the Falcons' Julia DeVere was fouled in the Crusader goal box, leading to a penalty-kick goal by Isabel Farrell that proved decisive.

The Falcons then tacked on an insurance goal just 2:06 later, icing the win.

Daniele Ortiz, who made 11 saves in shutting out the Falcons last week, made nine saves in Saturday's contest for the Crusaders.
