Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Northwest Nazarene University men's soccer team defeated the University of Sioux Falls 3-1 in today's Great Northwest Athletic Conference match up.
The Crusaders got on the board first as
Dylan Coffee netted in a cross from
John DiLulo in the 12th minute.
In the 33rd minute of play
Jon Curry took a shot that was blocked,
Daniel Clark was able to get possesion and convert on an attempt to get NNU up 2-0 going into the half.
Two minutes into the second half
Jaime Torres was able to chip a ball over the goal keeper from the left side of the box to get the Crusaders a 3-0 commanding lead.
Zane Meehan was credited with the assists.
In the 52nd minute Ryan Keohane was able to convert on a shot attempt to get the Cougars their only goal of the match.
"We did what we hoped for in terms of getting some first half goals and extending the lead early in the 2nd," commented head coach
Coe Michaelson. "But at 3-0 we really let our guard down, and to their credit they kept fighting."

Alfredo Ontiveros earned the win with one save while Kyle Simons had two saves in the loss. NNU had 13 shots while USF had 15.
The Crusaders are now 5-2-3 overall and 4-0-2 in GNAC action. The Cougars drop to 1-8-0 overall and 1-5-0 in conference play.
"It's a tough road trip though and we are happy to return home with two more wins." said Michaelson.
NNU will be back to the field next Saturday as they host Montana State University Billings in Nampa, Idaho.
