Crusaders Win 2-0 Against Academy of Art University

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The Northwest Nazarene University women's soccer team earned their first division II win of the season today, defeating Academy of Art University 2-0 in San Francisco, California.

The Crusaders were able to get on the board early as Autumn Yturbe was able to head-in a cross from Celina Mortensen from two yards out in the 18th minute of play. The Crusaders again scored in the 30th minute as Sarah Blum scored her first goal of the season from 18 yards out. 

"Our girls came out really well today. Great technical and tactical level. We put together some really good combination play and capitalized with two great goals." commented head coach Jamie Lindvall. 

NNU had a solid defensive stand throughout the second half keeping the Urban Knights scoreless. "Second half I thought we did a good job of maintaining composure and created some great opportunities but weren't quite able to capitalize.Great performance from our women today!" said Lindvall.

NNU had 12 fouls while Academy of Art had 11. The Crusaders outshot the Urban Knights eight to six. 

Tanya Zickefoose earned her second win of the season as Rachael Rempe receives the loss. 

The Crusaders will be back to action on Monday as they face Notre Dame DeNamur at 11 a.m. in Belmont, California.
