LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC San Diego used a pair of solid pitching performances to power the #1 ranked Tritons to a sweep of Northwest Nazarene this afternoon in NCAA D.II non-conference softball action in La Jolla.

Camille Gaito (2-0) tossed a three-hitter at NNU and Kayla Hensel (1-0) followed with a one-hitter as UCSD won both games 8-0 in five innings each.

The Crusaders (0-4) kept both games close early, trailing 2-0 in the opener into the fourth and trailing 3-0 into the fifth in game two. 

The Tritons (4-0) scored five in bottom of the fourth and added the game-ending eighth run in the bottom of the fifth in game one and rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth to end game two.

Cara Duckworth (0-2) took the loss for NNU in game one and Chelsey Anderson (0-2) fell in game two.  Duckworth surrendered eight runs on eight hits and Anderson allowed eight runs on nine hits.

Emily Renfrow, Arielle Chao, Chelsea Allsbrook and Duckworth each had hits for the Crusaders.

NNU will return to action on February 17th and 18th when they host Central Washington University in the conference openers for both teams.
