NAMPA, Idaho – Northwest Nazarene's Autumn Yturbe scored two second half goals as the Crusader women's soccer team defeated the University of Great Falls 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match at the NNU Soccer Field.
The Crusaders (1-1), who jumped out to a 5-0 lead before allowing the first Argo goal, opened the scoring in the 15th-minute when Sarah Staopoli scored off a Julianne Steel assist. Celina Mortensen made it 2-0 in the 28th-minute, finding the net from 15-yards out with a flick over the UGF goalkeeper, and Lacey Thompson made it 3-0 at the half when she scored an unassisted goal from 20-yards on the left side of the box.
Following the break the Crusaders wasted little time as Yturbe and Steele each scored unassisted goals in the 53rd and 60th minutes.
The Argos (0-2) got on the board in the 70th-minute when Ashly Pezel took a Yesenia Ocampo assist inside the right post to make it 5-1.
Yturbe added her second tally in the 86th-minute as NNU goalkeeper Tanya Zickefoose earned an assist when she launched her goal kick up the middle and Monik Martinez flicked it forward to Yturbe, who finished inside the left post.
Great Falls completed the scoring in the 87th-minute as Kandace Leliefeld's rocket from 25-yards banged in from off the crossbar for the visitors from Montana.
The Crusaders will return to the pitch next Wednesday when they host Eastern Oregon University at 4:00 p.m.
