ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Lauren Hadenfeld and Lindy Baxter hurled shutouts and Danielle Monson tied a NCAA Division II record by hitting in 39 consecutive games as Central Washington swept a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader from Northwest Nazarene by 3-0 and 4-0 scores Friday at Frederick Field.

Hadenfeld (16-4) toss her fifth shutout of the season in the opener, allowing three hits. She walked one and struck out 10. In the nightcap, Baxter (6-9) pitched a two-hitter, earning her second shutout. She walked three and struck out two.

Monson, who raised her season batting average to .524, had four hits in seven at bats to keep her season-long streak alive.

She kept the suspense at a minimum in tying the Division II record held by two others, singling in the third inning of the opener and the opening inning of Game 2.

In each game, the Wildcats scored what turned out to be the winning run in the third frame. Kelsey Haupert had a RBI single in the opening game and Keilani Cruz had a sacrifice fly in the nightcap for the go-ahead runs.

Emily Renfrow had two of Northwest Nazarene's five hits.

The teams will return for a GNAC twinbill tomorrow at Noon.
