Grunig leads NNU at Grand Canyon Invite

GOODYEAR, Arizona - Sophomore Zach Grunig led the Crusaders with a final round 74 as the Northwest Nazarene University men's golf team completed play at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational, played at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
 
Grunig posted rounds of 74-78-74 (226) to finish tied for 58th individually, leading the Crusaders, who fired rounds of 310-310-307 (927) to finish 17th overall as a team.
 
Rowdy Hope finished just behind Grunig with rounds of 78-75-75 (228).  Aaron VanDeHey (75-83-77 235) tied for 78th, Jeff McDonald (83-77-81 241) finished 84th, and Leon Vasquez (83-80-86  249) was 87th. 
 
Cal State University Stanislaus (278-281-287 846) took home the team trophy and CSU-Stanislaus' Joseph Stewart (69-70-68 207) earned medalist honors.
 
The Crusaders return to the links next Tuesday, hosting The College of Idaho in a dual-match at Purple Sage Golf Course in Middleton.
