NAMPA, Idaho - Northwest Nazarene University head baseball coach Tim Onofrei has announced that Jesse Gwaltney has signed a letter of commitment to attend NNU and play for the Crusaders this coming season.
Gwaltney (Jr., 5-10, 175, RHP-UT, Battle Ground, WA/Seton Hall) will be a junior for the Crusaders, having played his first two seasons at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.
As a sophomore at Seton Hall during the 2008 season, Gwaltney had 24 appearances with 49.1 innings pitched, posting a 3.47 E.R.A..
"Jesse is a polished pitcher who throws four pitches for strikes," Onofrei commented. "He has already had success at a high level and his maturity and leadership will be huge for our club. We are very excited to have Jesse at NNU."
Gwaltney is originally from the Northwest, having graduated from Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, WA in 2006.
