SPOKANE, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene's Arielle Chao, Vanessa Shaw, Haley Hevern, Jael Henthorn and Chelsey Anderson have all been selected to the 2009 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball All-Conference team, as announced by the GNAC office in Spokane. Chao, Shaw, Hevern and Henthorn were each second-team selections, while Anderson earned honorable-mention honors.
Chao (5-6, Fr., Victorville, CA) and Hevern (5-4, So., Central Point, OR) were selected at catcher and shortstop, respectively, and led the Crusaders at the plate as each hit .290 on the season. Hevern led the team in home runs (7) and runs scored (24), while Chao took the team RBI crown with 21.
Shaw (5-3, Sr., Helena, MT) was selected at second base, co-leading the team with Hevern with 40 hits and seven doubles. Henthorn (5-3, Sr., Meridian, ID) led the Crusader outfield, fielding .983 in centerfield with just one error on the season.
Anderson (5-6, Fr., Porterville, CA) led the Crusaders in innings pitched (150.0), posted a 5.32 ERA, and pitched a team-high 18 complete games in her rookie season in the GNAC.
