NAMPA ID - The second day of the Jackson's open turned out to be a great season opener for the NNU Crusader Track & Field Team. Laura Von Arx (Hermiston, OR), who placed 2nd in the women's Pentathlon on Day 1 of the Jackson's Open, turned in a NCAA II National Provisional qualifier and Indoor school record performance in the womens triple jump with a jump of 11.51m/37'9".

Von Arx jumped the qualifier on her first jump of the competition but ended up finishing behind Mikeyla Nicholson of Portland State and defending NCAA Div 1 long jump champion Eleni Kafourou, who competed unattached.

Other school records for the Crusaders came from Maurus Hope (Adrian, OR ) in the 60m (7.20) and in winning the 200m in a time of 22.13. Sprint coach Dustin Ainsworth said "It was great to see Maurus run fast this early since our focus was not on time but on competing and running through this part of our training, it just means there is more to come which is exciting."

Matt Stark (Meridian, ID) also broke the school record in the 1000m with a time of 2:33.92. Stark was the previous record holder but bettered his time finishing 5th in Saturdays race.

Another notable performance on Saturday came from Jasmyn Jewett (Mt. Home, ID) who won the women's high jump (1.57m/5' 1.75").

The Crusaders will compete January 23rd  at the Blue & Orange Invitational at the Jacksons track in Nampa.
