Drew Eisinger scored a game-high 17 and
Anthony Golden added 16 as the Northwest Nazarene University men's basketball team defeated Dominican University 76-63 on Saturday at the Dixie State College Classic in St. George, Utah.
The Crusaders, now 4-1 overall, bounced back after last night's loss to the host Red Storm to shoot 52-percent (25-48) from the field and convert on 10 of 21 three pointers. Golden went 4 for 6 from the bonus arc and Eisinger had three.
Dominican (CA), who are now 2-5, was led by Fox Mulholland with 14 points and Alex Ward with 12. Ward finished with seven rebounds as the Penguins out-rebounded the Crusaders 33 to 32.
In one of the more interesting stat lines of the night, DU's Xander McNally flirted with an unconventional triple-double, scoring eight points, handing out eight assists, and grabbing 11 steals. McNally also had four rebounds, but did commit nine turnovers in his 30-minutes of action.
Brian Barkdoll and
Kendall Gielow led the Crusaders on the glass, with Barkdoll scoring eight and grabbing seven rebounds, while Gielow had nine points and seven boards.
Jamie Eisinger led the NNU guards with five assists and Golden had six steals.
NNU will return home and play in the United Heritage Tip-Off Series on Tuesday night when they host The College of Idaho at the Johnson Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:07 p.m., as the game will be televised live by KTVB on cable channel 28 and digital channel 7.2.
