Crusaders Indoor Track & Field opens up with a 1-2 finish in Pentathlon

Jill Bennett
NAMPA ID. - Jill Bennett (Grants Pass, Or.) and Laura Von Arx (Hermiston, OR) helped the Women Crusaders off to a 1-2 finish in the Women's Pentathlon at the first day of the Jackson's open at the Jackson's Track at the Idaho Athletics center. Competing against Portland State and Concordia, Bennett finished first with a score of 2,927 for 5 events. Bennett scored personal best marks in 3 events on her way to the title (9.99 - 60 Hurdles, 9.06m/29'10" - Shot put and 4.96m/16'3.25" in the long jump).
Von Arx finished with a score of 2,767 beating out Dominique Jacoy of Concordia for second place in the final event of the evening, with a time of 2:42.60 in the 800m. Beth McLam (Fairfield, ID) finished 6th scoring 3 team points, totaling 21 points for the Lady Crusaders going into day 2 of the Jackson's open.

On the Men's side, Tim Greene (Portland, OR), Ben Heidegger (Medford, OR) and Stuart Montgomery (Marysville, WA) competed in the Men's Heptathlon. Through 3 events the Crusaders are respectivley 9th, 10th & 11th going into Day 2 where they will compete in the 60 Hurdles, Pole Vault and 1000m run.

Day 2 action continues at the Jackson's track with the Men's Heptathlon 60 Hurdles at 9:00am with events continuing all day with the 4x400m scheduled to run at 3:10pm.
