Renatto Brito named GNAC Newcomer-of-the-Year, leads five Crusaders to all-star honors

SPOKANE, Wash. - Northwest Nazarene University's Renatto Brito has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Newcomer-of-the-Year and leads five Crusaders to be named to the 2009 GNAC Men's Soccer All-Star Team, as announced by the conference office this week.
 
Brito, a midfielder from Boring, Ore., was the Crusaders No. 2 scorer with five goals that included two game-winners.  In addition to his Newcomer-of-the-Year honor, Renatto was also named to the second-team of the all-conference squad.
 
"Renatto was a great addition to our program this year and is a bright spot in both his character and his play," commented NNU head coach Coe Michaelson.  "He is such a great kid...I am excited for him to earn this honor."
 
Joining Brito on the GNAC all-star second-team were Alonso Avila (M, 5-9, Sr., Yuma, AZ) and Kyle Gaedke (D, 5-9, So., Puyallup, WA). 
 
Honorable-mention selections for the Crusaders included John Stump (F, 5-10, Fr., Yakima, WA), and Salvador Sanchez (M, 5-10, Fr., Ontario, OR).
