ELLENSBURG, Wash. - Setting one school and two meet records, the Northwest Nazarene Track & Field team won 15 event titles and claimed the women's team title at the 2008 Spike Arlt Invitational, hosted by Central Washington University on Saturday at Tomlinson Stadium.

"We had some wild weather and some great performances today," commented NNU head coach John Spatz.  "Today's results really have the kids excited for the conference championships.  Despite the snow, then hail, then sun...not to mention the constant wind, the kids really focused and competed as a team."

Results that included Kevin Lambert winning the men's 10,000-meters in a meet record time of 32:25.80, Dallas Beatty winning both the 110m (15.85) and 400m (55.47) hurdles and Greg Hamm claiming the triple jump with a leap of 14.23m (46-80).

The Crusader women's team, who scored 262 team points to out-distance second place Central Washington (144) by over 100 points, took home gold in 11 events, led by double victories by Latoya Tidwell (100m 12.79 / 200m 25.77) and Ashley Puga (1500m 4:36.09 / 3000m 10:14.52).  Puga's 3000-meter time set yet another school record for Ashley, this one by more than 12 seconds.

Also winning events were Lindsay Brady in a school record time of 58.52 in the 400-meters, Jaclyn Puga in the 800-meters (2:20.78), Shannon DeBoer in the 10,000-meters (40:46.30), Laura VonArx in the triple jump (11.11m), and Amy Carroll in the hammer throw (46.64m).  The Crusaders swept the relay events, winning both the 4x100 (49.28) and  the 4x400 (4:03.8).

Other highlights included Zach Barclay placing second in both the shot put (14.56m) and hammer throw (50.03m).  His throw in the shot put set a personal best, while his hammer effort was just inches under the school record, set last week by teammate Grant Miller.

Team awards were given to Seth Clark and Ashley Puga, as Puga hit two NCAA national provisional marks in the 1500m and 3000m and Clark set a personal best by more than a minute in his 10,000-meter race.
