Pugas lead NNU cross country at NCAA West Regional

SAN DIEGO – Ashley Puga finished 16th and Jaclyn 32nd for the Northwest Nazarene women's cross country team, which placed ninth with 237 points at the NCAA Division II West Regional on Saturday.

Ashley clocked a time of 22 minutes, 44.2 seconds and Jaclyn a 23:42.2 on the 6-kilometer course.

Elisa Decker was 49th (24:07.6), Shannon DeBoer 66th (24:50.7), Ashley Rendahl 74th (25:03.6), Megan Oberst 83rd (25:13.7) and Jamie Sundvall 118th (26:30.6) for the Crusaders.

Chico State won the team title with 60 points, completing a team sweep as the Wildcats also won the men's title.

Seattle Pacific's Jessica Pixler won the individual women's title in 20:57.1, while Chico State's Scott Bauhs won the men's 10K race in 32:15.8.

NNU's Neil Easter was 62nd for a partial Crusader squad, in 36:32.6, while Jason Towery was 77th in 37:29.6 and Luke Hetrick was 80th in 37:42.6.
