YAKIMA, Wash. – Ashley Puga and Neil Easter led the Crusaders as the Northwest Nazarene University cross country teams finished fifth and sixth at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference 2008 Cross Country Championships, hosted by Central Washington University at the Apple Ridge Run Course in Yakima.
Puga (Sr./Meridian, ID) finished sixth overall (22:56.24) as the NNU women's team finished fifth out of nine teams in the conference. Jaclyn Puga (So./Meridian, ID) also earned a top-10 finish, clocking 22:56.86 to finish ninth over the 6K Apple Ridge Run Course.
Easter (Fr./Nampa, ID) led the NNU men with a 26th-place finish (26:52.00) to give the Crusaders sixth overall.
“We were pleased with both team's efforts,” commented NNU coach Ben Gall. “The women did a good job, finishing in fifth despite Elisa (Decker) having to pull out during the race.” Decker has battling a knee issues throughout the season.
Women's team results included Ashley Rendahl in 35th with 24:30.53, Megan Oberst finished 37th (24:35.15), Jamie Beaty was 39th (24:35.37), Shanon DeBoer was 45th (24:47.77), Danielle Beesley was 58th (25:38.05), Miriam Reardon was 61st (25:46.12) and Jennifer Young was 74th (28:11.05).
Complete results for the men's team included Jason Towery in 35th (27:27.00), Luke Hetrick in 39th (27:45.00), Alex Crystal in 54th (28:37.00), Hank Hetrick in 55th (28:44.00), Josh Merioles in 56th (28:46.00), Caleb Reynolds in 64th (29:42.00), Greg DeSimone in 67th (30:44.00) and Mike Lewis in 68th (30:50.00).
