NAMPA, Idaho - Kristin Hein, Laura VonArx, and Maurus Hope have each been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player or Athlete of the Week in their respective sports this week, as announced today by the conference office in Spokane.

Von Arx Triples to a National Provisional Mark, 4 School Records Fall

NAMPA ID - The second day of the Jackson's open turned out to be a great season opener for the NNU Crusader Track & Field Team. Laura Von Arx (Hermiston, OR), who placed 2nd in the women's Pentathlon on Day 1 of the Jackson's Open, turned in a NCAA II National Provisional qualifier and Indoor school record performance in the womens triple jump with a jump of 11.51m/37'9".

Von Arx jumped the qualifier on her first jump of the competition but ended up finishing behind Mikeyla Nicholson of Portland State and defending NCAA Div 1 long jump champion Eleni Kafourou competing unattached for Boise State.

NCAA Woman of the Year program to air today on ESPN2, NNU's Ashley Puga one of nine finalists honored

Northwest Nazarene All-American Ashley Puga will be one of 30 national honorees appearing on ESPN2 this afternoon as the 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year awards banquet and celebration will be aired on the national network from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
